Travelogue: Dallas, Tx
This past weekend we jetted down to Dallas tx to attend a friend's wedding. It was all of our first time celebrating an Indian wedding and we were excited to be a invited to the celebration. We stayed in Southlake, TX which is about a 15min drive outside of Dallas. Pretty central for us since we would be hitting Arlington, Irving, and Frisco during our week in town. Southlake hilton was a good home base as its in the middle of a shopping district with a movie theater and tons of restaurants around. And when in suburbia, eat as suburbans (i'm not hating- i'm totally embracing!) First stop: Cheesecake factory :)

Thursday night was the mehndi where we enjoyed a presentation of the bride and groom and were treated to performances by members of both the brides' and grooms' family and friends. Winter even got in on the dancing.
Friday was a free day which we used to see glammother, take the girls to chuck e cheese, the mall, and also drop the girls off for their first weekend sleepover (sans parents) with family.
Then it was off to cocktails with the wedding party and dinner at CBD (get the steak!) at the joule hotel. #Nomnom

Saturday was odd not being awoken to "mommy...eat?! Oat milk (oatmeal)?!" But I still heard it in my head regardless. The morning snooze was oh so lovely ... So much so that we almost missed the shuttle to the ceremony lol. We made it though. And despite the Texas weather being all unusually chilly, cloudy, and sometimes rainy- the outdoor ceremony held up. Can we just admire this gorgeous bride for a minute? Beautiful
Afterwards it was a leisurely lunch and then a few hours to chill- or in my case - hair and makeup to get ready for the reception. My dear friend came to the rescue and loaned me 2 amazingly beautiful dress sets/sarees? to wear for this (as well as Thursday's event) so it was pretty cool to get dressed up.
I have to give a double shout out to Ryan at Blue Mercury in Southlake who worked makeup MAGIC on my face for both events. I literally was a walk-in and I gave him free reign to demonstrate his skills. So good was my Thursday night look that I booked him for Saturday.

The reception was at a really quaint-feeling venue called the piazza. what was even cooler was the decor inside of long communal glass topped tables with candles and white hydrangeas/rose combos running down the center. (Swoon!) The speeches were cute - especially the 90s music parodies by the brides maid of honor/best friends (props to anyone who pulls both an nsync and fresh prince of bel air performance) the 90s music theme continued on during the dancing which made for good times all around. I wish I could say I partied late into the night but nope. I was snoring by 1130 (so wack!)
Sunday (oat milk?! Eat?! - nope! Zzzzz) was a semi-work day as I accompanied prince on a few business meetings but we did make some time to inhale some bbq at hard 8. Just look:
Exactly. Not even going to describe - just try it. Also want to give thumbs up to the service: when we had a ribeye (which is grilled to order) brought out, the server looked at the corn on the cob on our plates and asked "your corn looks a little dry - do you mind if I bring you out a fresh one?" Um. Yes. Don't mind if you do - And did I mention That i love this place?
Then it was off to pick up the dynamic duo before I went through mom withdrawal, but not before getting sidelined with part exhaustion/part oncoming cold? The worst. I hate getting sick. But got the girls anyway, packed, and got ready for our departure for NYC the next day. Good times and we'll be back for sure. Until next time, y'all.
