the places we’ll go
I’m pretty sure that growing up as a military kid instilled my love for travel. It was a way of life, exciting, an experience like no other.
Also being of Filipino and American backgrounds, mashing cultures was my norm. The natural openness to different cultures is something I’d love to carry on to our girls, and so we travel. Domestic, international, over water, air, or road, we go. Here are a few of our adventures along with some insights and tips to inspire your next adventure.
Hong Kong
Our first stop on an epic southeast Asia tour, Hong Kong is a mish mash of chinese culture and westernized capitalism. Our home base was the Four Seasons Hong Kong where we had jaw-dropping views of old town, the bay and the city beneath us. We have 4 days to do sightsee, check out Disneyworld, get some sleep, visit some friends, and even take a hip hop dance class before we hop on our cruise.
taiwan
a little history, a little modernity, a little shopping, and a lot of good food as we do a Taipei tour.
philippines
one of the big reasons we went on this trip was to show the family a slice of home. From Manila, to Coron, to Bohol, we get a taste of the island life so that the girls could see where “mom grew up.”
malaysia
The closest we’ve ever gotten to walking in a rainforest, we head to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre west of Sandakan to observe orangutan and then stopover next door to see Sun Bears.
Cannes
A work trip with the kids to the French Riviera? Clearly the creativity angels were shining down on me —albeit with a little humor—when I tackled work and parenting at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Sun, sand, sick child? Yes throw it all in… I’ll give you the download on how to survive a week in Cannes with kids—for work.
Los cabos
Desert, sand, sund, and slightly lower than average (Chilly!) temps? we endure it all on the Pacific side to Mexico for our first trip to the Baja region. We get all our outdoorsy-ness out in the open: hikes, whale watching, horseback riding, partying til 2am for New Years, etc who is this family??!
